Question: How are sewer rates set?

Answer: The City of Somerville sets its own retail rates for water and sewer use by local businesses and residents. As a member community of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA), the City of Somerville is charged a “Community Assessment” by the MWRA that typically represents a majority of the total sewer rate.
