Question: Why can't I use plastic bags for yard waste?
Answer: All collected yard waste goes directly for composting. Any type of plastic including biodegradable is not suitable in the composting operation.
You can use yard waste paper bags available in most grocery stores or hardware stores, or you may also keep your yard waste in an open barrel marked YARD WASTE ONLY. Yard waste may also be dropped off at the DPW yard from:
Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., with proof of residency.
YARD WASTE ONLY stickers are available at City Hall (93 Highland Ave.), and at the DPW (1 Franey Road).
